The Challenge

A logistics company was adding a mezzanine level to their warehouse and needed structural support steelwork fabricated. The existing floor slab had specific load points, and the columns had to land on engineered base plates. The project had a fixed deadline — the mezzanine had to be installed before the lease commenced.

Our Solution

We worked from the structural drawings, fabricated all columns, base plates and bracing in-house, and drilled all connection holes to match the mezzanine supplier's bolts. We sent the steelwork for red oxide primer, then delivered it tagged and sequenced. The mezzanine erectors were able to install straight off the delivery truck, no on-site drilling or adjustment needed.

The Results

The mezzanine was erected on schedule, ready for the lease start date. The client was happy with the quality and the fact that the steelwork slotted together first time. We've since been asked to quote on a second warehouse extension.

Coordination with the mezzanine supplier

The trickiest part of this job wasn't fabrication — it was coordination. The mezzanine structure came from a separate supplier, and our columns and base plates had to line up exactly with their bolt pattern. We got the mezzanine supplier's connection details, cross-checked them against the floor plan, and drilled all our connection holes to match. The result: when the erectors arrived, the mezzanine bolted straight onto our columns with no on-site drilling, no reaming, no "close enough" adjustments.

That kind of coordination is what separates a fabricator that just cuts metal from one that solves problems. We didn't just make steel columns — we made sure our columns would work with someone else's product, on time, first try.
